Dr. Roger R. Gagnon

Dr. Gagnon was born and raised in Biddeford, Maine. He attended the University of Maine in Orono where he graduated with a degree in Zoology. Following the University of Maine Dr. Gagnon earned his Doctor of Optometry Degree at the New England College of Optometry in Boston, Massachusetts. After completing his medical training, Dr. Gagnon joined the United States Air Force where he was stationed at Kirkland Air Force Base in Albuquerque, New Mexico. While there, Captain Gagnon was promoted to chief of the Eye Clinic after only one year. While stationed in New Mexico, Dr. Gagnon had the opportunity to lecture to the medical staff on the diagnosis and treatment of ocular infectious diseases and injuries. He conducted a research project on auto refractors for the Air Force Surgeon General. He also initiated an externship with the Southern College of Optometry which brought optometry students to his clinic where Dr. Gagnon could teach them important medical skills. Dr. Gagnon also earned the Air Force Accommodation Medal for having the highest rated optometry clinic in the Military Airlift Command. On completion of his obligation to the Armed Forces, Dr. Gagnon returned to Maine to establish his own private practice. In Maine, Dr. Gagnon was among the first few optometrists to gain the Advanced License which allows him to diagnose and treat most eye diseases, including Glaucoma. While in private practice, Dr. Gagnon has tutored medical students from the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr Gagnon is a member of the American Optometric Association (AOA), the Maine Optometric Association (MOA), and the Contact Lens Society of the AOA. In his free time, Dr. Gagnon enjoys traveling, spending time with his children, playing sports, and all the recreational activities that Maine has to offer.

Dr. Kirsten Turrisi

Dr. Kirsten Turrisi is originally from North Carolina but fell in love with Maine while in optometry school. Her love for Maine grew when her husband proposed right here in South Portland at the Spring Point Ledge Lighthouse.

Dr. Turrisi completed her Doctorate of Optometry from the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences with Magna Cum Laude honors in 2019. She also earned her BS Degree in Business Management from the University of North Carolina Wilmington in 2012.

Prior to her medical studies, Dr. Turrisi has worked throughout the optometric field as an optometric technician, optician, and finance manager, giving her unique insight in patient care management.

She provides a spectrum of services ranging from comprehensive and medical eye exams to specialty contact lenses. Dr. Turrisi’s specialty is glaucoma care but she also is passionate about the ocular management of hypertension and diabetic conditions.

In her spare time, Dr. Turrisi enjoys outdoor activities such as biking, canoeing, hiking, and skiing with her husband and son.
